Coburg Cakes

1/2 cup sugar
2 oz. butter or marg.
1 egg (unbeaten)
1 cup flour
2 level tsps. baking powder
3/4 tsp. allspice
1.2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tbsp. molasses
hot water to mix
Heat oven to 450 degrees F.
Cream sugar and butter, add egg. Mix dry ingredients together and add to mixture. Add molasses to some warm water and add to mixture to make a soft blend but not runny. Spoon into small greased muffin tray. Bake on middle rack in oven for 12 to 14 minutes.
