Camping/vacation tips We go on vacation to the beach and stay in cabins where there are outdoor showers. Buy a plastic basket with holes and a handle. Place all your shower items, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. in the basket and you will always have everything you need to shower at your fingertips, and won't need tow hands to carry it all. Baskets with holes can be taken directly into the shower with you and any water can be poured right out when you're done. Car Cleaning Tip I never have time to clean my car with a six yr old, a two year old and a two month old. I have started taking my dustbuster and baby wipes with me when I pick my oldest son up at school. The two youngest are strapped in, so I just start cleaning while I am waiting for him to get out of school. Some other mothers at school have started doing this also. It works!!! Car Freshner Instead of spending money on car air freshners that only last a couple of days, I take my favorite essential oil (lavender, orange, peppermint, etc.) put a couple of drops on a cotton ball and place it under the front seat. Changing Pad Covers I discovered that just by taking a towel, fitting it around the changing pad and sewing the corners down I have a much thicker, better coordinated changing pad cover than any I could find in the store. You can even take a washcloth and make a pillow by sewing it directly to the towel and filling it. I also made a cover for my pack and play changing pad because I could not find one. This way I had a much better selection of colors, quality and price than the covers that are specially made for the changing pads. Cheap Yet Impressive Wrapping I was wrapping up a bottle of wine to bring to my sister's and it turned out so beautiful I had to add it here. I used a big square of burlap - sat the bottle on top and brought up all the sides. I tied a burlap cord around the neck and a piece of raffia. on the cord I added one red - one yellow and one green leaf (put hole in the tops) and 2 acorns (drill holes through top sides). It's so beautiful. This can work with bottles of wine - maple syrup - pickled items in jars....etc...and for Christmas you can put pine cones and pine branches and berries as decor...in summer and spring add flowers. Christmas stocking stuffers Kids get so excited about stocking stuffers!So why not get them excited about brushing their teeth???Put some of those vibrating toothbrushes in their stockings and some child appropriate toothpaste!They will love it!!...and if the are old enough...slip some floss and swish in there too!(walmart sells the travel size toothpaste,swish,and floss...that will work great!) Clean car entertainment For those of us who cannot stand the clutter of a toy filled car, try filling your car glove compartment with childrens tapes or cds -they be songs or stories- this is great entertainment. You can even read your childs favorite books onto the tape and play it in the car for them! This is my child's entertainment in the car and it stimulates creativity and imagination.
