  • Reusable Coloring Book Reusable Coloring Book Take a three-ring notebook and some plastic page protectors, buy a coloring book, and carefully cut out the pages of the coloring book. Place them inside the page protectors, then in the notebook. You can then get washable markers and a small sponge. The kids can color all they want and it wipes clean. Great for trips to the doctor or long car rides. Submitted By: sarah(Added: 8-Apr-2001 Hits: 0 Rating: 8.00 Votes: 1) Rate It
  • riding in the store cart When my toddler doesn't want to ride in the store cart any more, I turn the cart around and I push her from the back of the cart. (Sshe is now facing forward.) She pretends she is "driving" the cart and once again is happy. Submitted By: teresa(Added: 27-May-2003 Hits: 0 Rating: 9.00 Votes: 1) Rate It
  • Screaming FITS My daughter was having problems getting me and others in the family to understand what she was telling us what she was wanting... Such as drink, more, eat,ect... the things we take for granted. In her mind she was saying it correct because she was phraseing it they same way over and over. Well one day I taught her a few sign language words and the screaming stop.If your child thinks whatever they are say is right in their head maybe teach them some basic sign and maybe the FITS will stop?!?!? • Shopping When I wanted to go grocery shopping and my child wasn't content just sitting in the cart anymore, she wanted to walk. I made cards for her with pictures of her favorite foods for her to look for while we shopped. It made her feel like she was helping so she wasn't running all over the place. When she got older and could read, I replaced the cards with pictures with cards with words and the top dollar I was willing to pay for an item. So when she saw a can of corn etc. she learned how to compare prices. Iit worked like a charm and we love shopping together. Submitted By: Tonya(Added: 9-Apr-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It
  • Sippy cup problems? If your child is unable or unwilling to tip up a sippy cup try a reusable straw drink container. Small children tend to suck more readily than tip up a cup and this will encourage less bottle use! Submitted By: K Wright(Added: 15-May-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It
  • Skinny sandwiches Very thin bread by Pepperidge farm is a great way to introduce to sandwiches to toddlers. I was afraid my daughter would choke on a sandwich, beacause the bread was so thick, especially with peanut butter. Very thin bread comes in wheat or white. One regular slice is equal to two of the very thin ones. Submitted By: Elizabeth(Added: 4-Jan-2001 Hits: 0 Rating: 8.50 Votes: 2) Rate It
  • Sleeping Potion One night when my daughter was having trouble getting to sleep, I suggested some of my famous "Sleeping Potion". I sprayed some lavendar cologne on a pretty lace hankie (any light scent will do), declared it to be magic "sleeping potion" and tucked it under her pillow. She was asleep in minutes. And whenever she couldn't sleep from then on would ask for some of my "sleeping ocean"! She sometimes still asks for it...and she's now eleven! • Snack bowls I bought the smallest size plastic butter tubs sold in the grocery store. Once all the butter was gone they made great snack bowls for my 2 year old. I fill one with treats (cereal, raisins, pretzels, etc.) and toss it into the diaper bag before heading out. The bowl is better than a ziplock bag because it's reusable and it keeps the snack from getting crushed. Plus the size is just right for his little hands. • Snack Holders for little fingers Use 1 cup, 3/4 cup, and 1/2 cup measuring cups for your toddlers bite sized snacks! They provide a great handle for your little one to hold on to, and you know you're not giving them a "snack overload" at snacktime! My kids love using the measuring cups and now I don't run out of bowls! Submitted By: Adrianne Millinder(Added: 8-Feb-2001 Hits: 0 Rating: 9.67 Votes: 3) Rate It
  • Snack Tip I use the plastic bottle tops as snack bowls for my two year old. The shape makes it really easy for her to hold and it's just the right size for a "two year old" portion. I put goldfish or fruit snacks, etc. in them and she loves it! Submitted By: Cheryll Shubert(Added: 19-Jan-2007 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It
  • Speedy Dinner Help My two year old son loves Play-Doh. So sometimes when we get home in the evening, he likes to sit in his high chair with tools (spoons, cookie cutters, & other safe kitchen gadgets) and play with his Play-Doh. It helps me to get supper fixed, and he has a great time. Also, this doesn't create a lot of mess. Submitted By: Tammy Clark(Added: 14-Nov-2000 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It

  • Storing Toys To store all my toddlers toys I use a large tupperware storage container. He gets a real kick out of pulling his toys out and always comes up with something he hasn't used in a few days. It makes cleaning at the end of the day a snap and he loves to help. The containers are sold in all department stores and are often on sale. Submitted By: Suzy(Added: 12-Mar-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It
