- Crayon on Walls
If you have a child that decides to use crayons on your nicely painted walls use hairspray and then hot soapy water to take it off.

- Diaper Battle?
My busy baby girl would protest, wiggle, roll and yell when being diapered. So I bought a SPECIAL toy (a Sesame Street toy 'cell phone'), for use ONLY on the changing table. As soon as she would lay down, she'd get the toy. Once we were done, we would say 'bye bye, see you later' to the toy. Sometimes the enticement of playing with the phone was enough to get her to WANT to be diapered!!

- Diapering Dilemma!
Do you have a little octopus to change? My 20 month old son kicks, screams, cries and literally hates having his diaper changed. But I found something that works!!!!
I have learned that he feels he needs to be IN CHARGE at this age so I let him pick his place to lay down for diaper time! I even changed his diaper under the computer desk!
As long as he feels he is in control he lays down and doesn't mind and is even pleasant. This makes us both happy and much less stressed out. I also let him pick a toy or book too! Then play with him afterwards.

- Don't Lose Those Mittens
Use a long piece of wool or string to attach two mittens together. Put the string through the sleeve holes of the coat. That way, your toddler won't be able to lose his mittens!

- Don't play in the toilet!
How often have you said "No sweet-heart" I said don't play in the toilet!?! Well it's really common sense when you think about it. I was at a friend's place once; the kids playing us chatting and drinking cofee, as she excuses her self to clean a little bit. She went and cleaned her bathroon sink and the toilet right in front of her toddler. BIG NO! NO! in my book. If you don't want your toddler to play in the toilet, the same goes for you. To him or her you're not cleaning it, you're playing in it! Makes sense, right? I never clean the toilet in front of my sons. And at age of 1 and 2 never went to play in it!.

- Ease the war on medicine taking -
Medicine time at our house was an all out battle field and a lose-lose situation for both child and parent. Until one day, we took the tears, the no's and the yuk out of medicine taking for our kids. Use food items that your child may like to rid their mouth of that awful after taste. For example, my son loves cherries, strawberry ice cream and vanilla pudding. I will often place in his hands two or three cherries to pop into his mouth immediately following that teaspon of yucky stuff, or I will mix liquid or mashed chewable tablets in his favorite ice cream or pudding which makes the medicine go down as well as providing a very satisfiable treat = win-win. Others tried successfully - peanut butter/jelly and applesauce.

- Easy bandaid removal
Another way to remove a bandaid pain free is to pour alcohol over it. Bandaid can be pulled off with ease in seconds. When my daughter was a baby, the nurse told me to try this method, especially after vaccinations. Those hospital bandaids are awful.

- Easy Way To Potty Train
I find this is an wasy way to potty train a toddler. Some may not agree, but it worked for me twice. If your child does not want to go on the potty and continues to go in their diaper, throw them away. Put underwear on them and tell them every time they go in their pants, they will have to take a bath. By the fourth bath, my kids were potty trained. The same goes for nighttime. I don't believe in pull-ups. I know kids who are six years old who are still wearing one. If you give them an option to go wither wake up or go in their pull-up, which do you think they will opt for? So, put on your water-proofed mattress pad, put underwear on them and hope for the best. You will definitely have some accidents; that's ok. Just clean their bedding and try it the next night. They will grow tired of wetting their bed every night and will train themselves to take notice as to what's going on. When they feel the urge to go, their brain will remember they need to wake up. Both of my kids were potty-trained this way. It sounds like the drill sargeant way but believe me, it works and they never touched a pull-up.

- Egg Carton Paint Tray
Well here is another use for an egg carton. My 21 month old is a finger painter. So I cut the egg cartons up and put different colors in each little egg craddle since the fingerpaints are in buckets. That way he can use his fingers and little brushes and not get the colors all mixed up til they hit the page and it is washable so you can wash them and reuse. The tops of the carton we use to mix colors too. He loves to dip his fingers and brushes to see what color he gets out.

- Extra Bedtime Stories
My daughter Julie LOVES her bedtime stories. But some nights, we just don't have the time to read 20 of them. So we leave one small light on in her room and put a stack of books and a sippy cup of milk in her crib. She will "read" her books for about half an hour by herself, then we come in, take out the books, exchange milk for water, and say goodnight. Really helps to calm her down before bedtime.
