  • Busy Mornings On the mornings that I have to be to work very early, it is a challenge getting all the kids up, dressed, groomed etc. What I have done on those early morning occassions, is bath the kids the night before, and dress them in comfy sweat outfits that double as PJs and an outfit. Then in the morning I roll them out of bed, brush teeth and wash faces and since they are already dressed I am out the door! Submitted By: (Added: 1-Jun-2004 Hits: 0 Rating: 5.25 Votes: 4) Rate It
  • Dinner tips for Working Moms Instead of coming home after work and jumping into the kitchen to prepare a meal, why not start a "crock pot" dinner BEFORE you leave for work. It will be done and ready to eat when you come in the door. As far as morning goes, it takes about 5 minutes to put in potatoes, carrots, onions, and chicken pieces - turn the crockpot on LOW and off you go. Worked for me and there are a zillion easy crockpot recipes. Good luck......spend quality time with your kids after working all day...... • EASY DISPOSAL When having to clean the whole house quickly, get a small tub from the dollar store and place all your cleaning supplies, a roll of paper towels and a package of small trash bags (a package of large ones is a good idea, too) in the tub. This way while cleaning you have everything in arms reach. While cleaning, place everything that doesn't belong in that room in to the tub and redistribute the items as you go. • Extra Time for Child & You Find extra time with your child by carrying him with you to change clothes. Find out how his day went while you dress. Make a game out of working out. I sit my baby in front of me while I do sit ups. I play peek-a-boo each time I come up. Make faces and count in an animated voice during repetitions of bicep curls and lunges. He thinks the grunting I do is hysterical. I keep a weight set in an extra bedroom. I only take him in this room when I work out. He thinks it is special and finds it interesting. And of course I take him on "nature" walks when the weather is nice. Sometimes in a stroller and other times with a carrier. Both give me a different workout. I'm spending time with him and teaching him how important working out is. Submitted By: (Added: 7-Nov-2001 Hits: 0 Rating: 10.00 Votes: 1) Rate It
  • Flower Day for the girls When planting your bulbs and seeds this year pick a day that your kids can have friends over and get small pots 1 for each child and bag of soil. Have the kids make there own plant and you will have a great time when they start to grow and you can have them back over to plant them in the ground when they are ready. The kids love this and it saves on time when you have all this help. • Grocery Shopping Made Easy For busy working moms, you need to save all the time and money you possibly can when you go grocery shopping! I keep a regular envelope on the fridge at all times, and during the week I jot down the groceries I need. Then, just before I go shopping, I tuck the coupons I'll be using inside the envelope, and off I go! I have my list and coupons all in one - thus saving time AND money! • Have you tried eGroc? Just want to bring your attention to eGroc.com, your online shopping list program. There are many programs like this on the market (just do a search on Google for "shopping list") but all require you to download software to your computer, then install it, then uninstall it if you don't like it. eGroc is better. eGroc runs 100% from the internet. Use it at home, access it from work, print it from school. It does not matter where you use it along as you have an internet connection. eGroc has a number of screen snapshots to show you how the program looks. It comes with a free 21 day trial membership. You could also extend your free 21 day period by referring people to eGroc. Any of your referrals who sign up for the trial membership will cause the program to automatically add a week to your trial or paid membership. Thanks for reading my blurb! http://www.eGroc.com Submitted By: eGrocWoman(Added: 11-Aug-2003 Hits: 0 Rating: 1.00 Votes: 1) Rate It
  • It Can Wait I used to come home from work (after picking up my 2 young boys and running any errands, or going to any sporting events) and directly go in to the kitchen to start cooking and cleaning. I was always in such a rush to get dinner and cleaning and baths out of the way that I always felt stressed out. My children were always very "fussy" during this cooking and cleaning time which didn't help any of the stress. I decided to try something new. When I get home, I take a few minutes to sit with the kids, set up any homework or projects, and just talk with them for a while before I dive into the chores. I have found that they are much less "fussy" after they have had my attention for a little while. Needless to say things do not go smoothly every night. The cooking and cleaning must get done, but I have learned that many things can wait and I feel better and so does my family! • Kids Picking Up Toys Themselves I bought several bins of a uniform size (found mine at Ikea for under $1 each). Each type of toy my kids play with has its own bin that it goes into. One for all the toy cars, one for all the Lincoln logs, etc. Most of the bins fit neatly lined up under the kids beds. The rest fit on the toy shelf. My kids are too young to read so I taped a picture (usually I cut it out from what ever box they originally came in) of the toy that goes into each bin on the bin. This makes cleaning up toys so easy that my 2 and 3 year olds can do it themselves with very minimal help from me. It helps that I only allow each of them to have one bin out at a time. This is just fine with them because they know they can get a new bin out just as soon as they clean up the old. Submitted By: katy(Added: 4-Jan-2002 Hits: 0 Rating: 9.67 Votes: 3) Rate It
  • Less dishes to wash Save empty drink bottles with squirt tops such as the type sport drinks come in. Have one for each child. Use a permanent marker to write each kids name on one. Fill them with juice, koolaid, milk, etc. in the morning and keep in the fridge. Kids can get their own drinks from the fridge and there's no spills due to pouring. Kids put them back in fridge when they've had enough to drink. No more washing 50 cups a day!!! We also use these bottles when we go on picnics, cook-outs or to the beach. No more paper cups, no wasted drinks, and no kids waiting to be served a drink. Submitted By: Gloria B.(Added: 17-Aug-2003 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It
  • Life Live life to the fullest. Do not sweat it if the little things happen! Just try your best. Live! Take time for you. Give a little to work, a little to the kids and a little to the man in your life. Give a lot to yourself and do the things you like to do! • Lunch bag containers Save those empty baby juice bottles...the small 4oz plastic ones with a screw on cap. They work great for packing salad dressing, veggie dip, ketchup, vinegar, etc. in a lunch bag. The cap screws on tight so you have no spills. These work better than containers I've paid more money for. Submitted By: Gloria B.(Added: 5-Mar-2006 Hits: 0 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It
  • Morning Routine I'm sure you know how frustrating it is when everyone's finally ready to go, and then you see your toddler covered in breakfast. I make sure that everyone eats before they get ready for the day...that way, they don't eat right after they've brushed their teeth and clothes stay (relatively) clean. • No Cup Holder? No Problem! For either your car or for a childs table or lapdesk: Take a travel type mug with a flat bottom and add velcro to it. Add the other side of velcro to your dash or the childs lapdesk and your in business. Submitted By: Jackie Neubill(Added: 18-Dec-2003 Hits: 0 Rating: 8.00 Votes: 1) Rate It
  • Organization When meals are organized life will can be so much simpler. I have two normal routines, on the weekend I make one type of dish in 5 meal size servings (eg. lasagna) then I place them in the freezer, the following weekend I make another (eg stew) and so on. During the week while the dishwasher is running I prepare the following nights meal. I set the timer on the oven or prepare the crock pot etc, remove the meal from the freezer. Some days I set the timer for the bread machine for morning. In total it takes me about 20 minutes per evening for kitchen duties.
